4 Day Weekends

Here we are on day 2 of a four day weekend in the USA. With Thanksgiving falling on a Thursday this year, we have the perfect excuse to take the four days straight as our celebratory holiday.

Whilst I am Australian and Tracey is British, our connection with Thanksgiving does not extend much earlier than the mid-nineties. Before that Thanksgiving was a confusing period of “Holidays” depicted in American movies. Seemed to be rather close to Christmas and further confused by the Turkey tradition, that in Britain and Australia is more of a Christmas dinner dish….

Regardless, these 4 days are a great opportunity to catch up on some work backlog from my recent European trip that was supposed to be for the London – Casablanca Rally.

With that effort ending in a frustrating mess – car less, I had the unplanned luxury of time to catch up with friends and in-laws in the UK.

The last of those visits was to my old friends Simon and Becky Kingdom-Butcher in Aldwick Village, West Sussex. We had a great Chili and Rioja evening, recounting and exaggerating old tales and marvelling at the fact that it had been almost exactly 10 years since we had sat down for Chili and Rioja.

Simon is partner at the leading edge Motorsports Composites supplier GTR in Fontwell, West Sussex, just down the road from Goodwood.

Their work includes all sorts of curious parts for F1, Oil and Gas industry and ‘cant show you – I’d have to kill you’ parts for the British MOD.

So the quiet time back in the office this weekend will be carefully deployed to finishing details of the massive PVX project, due on the ground any day now. Consider 2180lbs and 425 hp. N/A and you are getting a clue.

We also have development work on a number of new WEVO product developments, the “low boy” 901 Shifter, the “tall boy” shifter family, just two to get some attention today.
